Day 1: Off to a Great Start!

Summer camp at the Princeton Family YMCA is officially underway! To start off another great summer at the Y, the Discovery Camp Pioneers began the day by playing a rousing game of Duck-Duck-Goose. After that, campers got back into the swing of things with this week's theme: Carnival Crazies! To celebrate the theme, campers got to make their own paper clown hats and art supplies with the help of Miss Carissa. Later in the day, Paul explained the rules of camp to the campers. After that, the campers got together to paint their counselors' faces to look like clowns – complete with hairdos made from shaving cream and crackers. Pictures should be up later this week, but from what we saw, they looked great!

At MVP Camp, campers and counselors started the season with a game of baseball. Mr. Allan, the MVP Site Director, told us he was "looking forward to coming everyday and introducing the kids to new games and activities each day." There sure will be a lot of fun games in store for MVP campers; the gym was already echoing with cheering and energy!

Leadership Academy spent some time shadowing counselors around the camp in order to see what they do and to prepare for the rest of the summer. It seems as though there are already some great leaders at the Y. Look forward to great things from them!

That's all for the first day. We've got a lot of exciting new things coming up, both in camp and on the blog – keep checking back here for updates!
