Week Four Specialty Camp: Super Science Egg Drop

Thursday, Super Science specialty camp explored principles of physics with the “Egg Drop”. Campers had to find a way to protect an egg that would be dropped from the roof. Pairs of campers used bubble wrap, card board boxes, duct tape and paper cups to try and construct vehicles to brace the egg. When asked if he thought his pair’s contraption would work 9 year old Vedith said, “I know it will! We got a lot of bubble wrap so the contraption will bounce off and then stop. The bubble wrap will protect the egg.” Shortly after Super Science was finished wrapping its egg in protection, a Super Science counselor brought each project up to the roof and prepared to drop it. The campers watched from below as each contraption fell to the sidewalk. After the drop was over each group went to go inspect the damage. All in all the contraptions were very successful. “Seven successes and two scrambled eggs. Awesome!” said Vedith, as he celebrated with his teammates.
