Specialty Week 8

The Specialty Camp had an awesome week and they finished it off great! Their theme for the week was “Around the World” and so they learned about new places and cultures. On Thursday, the Specialty Campers learned about Egypt and its culture. One thing about the Egyptian culture that the campers enjoyed was the hieroglyphics. The campers made hieroglyphics out of dough which then hardened. The campers then took their art home to keep a little piece of Egypt with them. After this the campers received kite kits and with them they built their own amazing kites and then flew them on the YMCA field. Afterwards, on Friday, the camp went on a field trip to the Philadelphia Zoo! Going to the zoo also relates the campers’ theme of the week because the campers saw many different animals from all over world and simultaneously they also learned of the places from which they come from.
