MVP Week Five

Camp MVP has been engaged with many things this week. On Thursday MVP took part in a world record marshmallow roast along with the whole YMCA. All of the campers got to roast a marshmallow over the grill and write down their name to prove that they participated. The campers were happy to be a part of something so big.
Camp MVP also played Quidditch, track and field and kick ball as their choices for summer games because the kids chose these as their favorites. Camper Lucas was pointed out by his counselors because he is nice to his friends, everyone enjoys being around him, he helps the campers that are confused about what to do and he passes the ball around to everyone to let them all participate and play. Camper Lucas said “I liked playing the summer games and it was my favorite part of the week. It was my favorite part because I got to pass to a lot of my teammates and I liked the three games that we played!”
On Thursday and Friday the weather was very hot so our MVP campers had a special emphasis placed on the importance of hydration for athletes. They also got to cool off with cold water on the field. Counselor Sarah said “My favorite part of camp this week was splashing the kids with the hose because it made them smile and it was really hot out.” Today Camp MVP will be joining the other camps to watch a movie and cool down from playing games outside. Next week camp MVP will be playing football, net games, orienteering, go on a hoops tour and have a BBQ on Friday!
